01

Challenge

Identify where global search and research APIs could add value within a large technology ecosystem that already has local search, cloud, and model capabilities.

02

Context

An independent case study prepared from public information for an interview. Alibaba is the subject of the strategy exercise, not a claimed customer engagement. Business-unit priorities and buying relationships are discovery hypotheses.

03

My Role

Mapped search demand, stakeholder roles, and candidate workloads. Connected the search and hallucination evaluation findings to a proposed architecture, pilot acceptance criteria, and technical account-management plan.

04

Account Analysis

Examined AIDC, Alibaba Cloud and Qwen, DingTalk, Cainiao, domestic commerce, and group strategy or compliance functions. Distinguished global and multilingual research needs from China-local lookup and internal-knowledge workloads.

05

Proposed Architecture

A policy-based router combines local search, global web search, deeper research, enterprise knowledge bases, and licensed domain evidence. Proposed controls include fallback, telemetry, cost limits, and customer-approved data routes.

06

Validation Plan

Proposed discovery and an accepted baseline, followed by shadow testing, a canary rollout, and production approval. Each stage needs an accountable owner, workload-specific quality and reliability thresholds, and agreement on data handling and budget.

07

Deliverables

Created the attached account-strategy presentation, covering opportunity mapping, competitive positioning, routing design, and an operating cadence of weekly bad-case reviews, monthly business reviews, and quarterly expansion planning.

08

Lessons Learned

Technical evaluation can guide discovery and workload selection, while rollout depends on ownership, governance, and measurable customer value. This case presents a proposed account plan; adoption, revenue, and deployment outcomes have not been established.
